Legal Services of Northwest Jersey (LSNWJ)

Legal Services of Northwest Jersey (LSNWJ) is a private non-private law firm that provides free legal services to people with limited income and vulnerable seniors of Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Warren Counties.

Due to limited funding, LSNWJ is not able to represent all of the people who are eligible for our services with all of their legal needs. As a result, LSNWJ must establish priorities. Each year, LSNWJ seeks input from the low-income community, service providers, the courts and the legal community in order to assist us in setting our priorities for the next year. The priorities effective January 1, 2019, stated in intended outcomes are:

  • Clients receiving legal advice will learn about legal remedies to maintain essential needs.
  • Clients receiving legal representation will pursue legal remedies for essential needs.
  • Clients receiving legal representation will meet their essential needs (shelter and housing, income and assets for self-sufficiency, family relationships, personal safety, health care access, and autonomy).

Eligibility:

LSNWJ’s Basic Needs Program serves households whose income falls at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. The income guidelines for our basic needs program, effective January 19, 2019 can be found HERE.
