Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties

Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties is a nonsectarian social service agency working to improve the overall quality of life for people of all faiths and backgrounds in our tri-county community.

Mental Health Counseling

  • The Betty and Arthur Roswell Counseling Center is a NJ State licensed community mental health outpatient provider. Our highly qualified and dedicated professional clinicians work with individuals, couples, groups and families in our Somerville, NJ office or via teletherapy. We can help you address your problems, explore alternatives, develop new insights, and find solutions. JFS accepts third-party insurance including Medicaid and Medicare. Clients may qualify for subsidized services through charity care or a grant from the Somerset County Department of Human Services.

Youth and Family Services

  • JFS is committed to serving the needs of children and families and offers an array of programs and services to help promote and strengthen those in need.
  • Expanding Horizons Programs supported by the Nancy L. and Arthur E. Lee Family Fund provide support for neurodivergent children, adults, and families. Social groups for adolescents and for young adults provide opportunities to build connections and grow skills, with accompanying opportunities offered for families in the form of mutual support groups.
  • Family Mentor Program is designed to provide in-home support, information, and advocacy to families. It addresses the needs of families that are feeling overwhelmed by matching each family with a trained community volunteer who can help promote strengths and capacities within the family over the course of a year. There is a special focus on families with children under the age of 10 or with older children who have special needs.

Older Adult Services

  • JFS offers comprehensive services for older adults aiming to help clients maintain independence and enhance the quality of their lives.
  • Senior Friendly Visitor Program offers in-home support, information, and advocacy. It addresses the needs of homebound, isolated seniors by matching a trained community volunteer to visit on a regular, ongoing basis.
  • Senior Shopper Program matches volunteers with clients referred by the local Office on Aging and Disability Services to shop and deliver groceries to homebound older adults, addressing food access and loneliness in a friendly and consistent way.
  • JFS partners with Community Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset County to offer clients medication management, nutrition information, and chronic health management from a nurse consultant.
  • JFS addresses emergency and ongoing needs of Holocaust Survivors in our community. Services include home health care and companion services, case management, grocery gift cards, and the Café Europa socialization program. This program is made possible by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, Jewish Federation of West-Central NJ, Kavod SHEF, Seed the Dream Foundation, and the State of New Jersey.
  • Ohr Tikvah (Light of Hope) Jewish Healing Program provides outreach, support, and pastoral care to Jewish community members, particularly individuals who are not affiliated with a specific congregation.

Career Services
We offer comprehensive and individualized career services on a sliding scale basis to individuals seeking employment. These services include career counseling, resume preparation, interview coaching, and our Job Seekers Support Group.

Information, Referral & Emergency Assistance
The JFS team is available to discuss additional internal and external community resources. Through the Evan Jaffe Memorial Fund for Emergency Assistance and Hebrew Free Loan Program, interest free loans are available to individuals or families with a connection to the Jewish community when no other options are available. Emergency food assistance is available to JFS clients. Contact us to learn more about eligibility.
