Our History

Harbor of Hope started in 2004 as Safe Harbor Child Access Centers, a nonprofit organization offering court-ordered supervised visits and assisted with child visitation drop-offs. Carol Dvoor inherited the agency in 2014 and continued to offer both therapeutic and non-therapeutic supervised visits until 2023. In 2025, Safe Harbor Child Access Centers became Harbor of Hope- a name more closely aligned with our updated mission and vision. 

The agency has seen many changes over the years, adapting to the various traumatic stressors that many in our community face. Our roots have remained same throughout our transitions by offering programs that foster healing, resilience, and belonging to everyone in the community.

Our Play Group is for all ages on Monday-Thursday from 3pm-7pm.  During this time, school aged children may receive tutoring and homework assistance, participate in arts and crafts time, and enjoy time playing with their peers while learning healthy socialization. Kids enjoy activities lead by our teen volunteers, including music circle and story time. All activities encourage a sense of belonging and support healing from trauma by providing a compassionate space.

The Giving Room provides nonperishable food, toiletries, and clothes to those in our community who need it most. We work with local farms to provide fresh fruits and vegetables whenever possible. We appreciate the barriers many face when it comes to accessing basic needs and hope the Giving Room helps to break down those barriers by offering assistance in a judgement-free zone. The Giving Room is open during our weekly programs and available by appointment Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm-5pm. Please call 908-268-4284 if you would like to schedule an appointment.
