Hackettstown Medical Center-Counseling & Addiction Center

Unfortunately, the dependence upon alcohol, prescription medication, over-the-counter medications and illegal drugs is becoming increasingly common. Addictions cause serious problems for individuals and their family members.

Hackettstown Medical Center's Counseling & Addiction Center is here to help. We offer:

  • Adolescent Early Education Program: This is an 8-week evening program for adolescents who have experimented with mood altering substances but who do not meet criteria for substance abuse or dependence. The curriculum includes the effects of mood altering substances, the disease concept of addiction and addictive behaviors.
  • Adolescent Outpatient Program: This evening program is offered for adolescents who meet diagnostic criteria for chemical abuse or who are ruling out dependency. The goal of the program is to explore psychosocial interactions and behaviors leading to chemical abuse, as well as prevention of chemical dependency. Adolescents attend every Monday and Thursday.
  • Adult Outpatient Program: is for adults who meet diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder, mild. The goal of the Outpatient Program is to explore psychosocial interactions, behaviors, etc. leading to chemical abuse as well as preventionof chemical dependency. Individual therapy is provided at minimum 1x/month, more often if clinically appropriate or if client requests.
  • Adult Intensive Outpatient Program: is for adults who meet diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder, moderate or severe. We pay the client into this group 2 or 3 times per week (Level 2 versus Level 3 care) depending on ASAM criteria. The goal is to abstinence from all chemical substances, increase in self awareness, and improve functioning. We are a 12 Step based treatment facility and refer clients to AA and NA for self help purposes. Individual therapy is provided weekly.
  • Adult Aftercare Program: is foradults who meet diagnostic criteria for chemical dependence in remission and have successfully completed the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program. The goal of the Aftercare Program is for the individual to maintain abstinence from all miid altering substances in a less structured environment. Individual therapy is 1x/month, more often if clinically appropriate.
  • Family Support & Recovery: Every member of the family is impacted by an alcoholic or drug user. To help the children and adults in the immediate family, the Counseling & Addiction Center offers a weekly one-and-one-half-hour support program to help families understand addiction and gain support from each other to improve their quality of life. This program is open to family, friends and individuals in recovery.
  • Family Treatment Resources: include our Family Support Group which meets on Monday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. We also refer to Al - Anon and Nar - Anon. In addition to these resources, we also provide family therapy sessions for clients should they choose to include family members.
