DeafLEAD

DeafLEAD

We provide 24/7 crisis intervention, advocacy, case management, interpreting, and mental health support services to victims of crime who are Deaf, hard of hearing, DeafBlind, and late-deafened individuals and their families. We also lend our expertise to victim service providers—individuals and organizations alike—in ensuring that their services for crime victims with hearing loss are culturally and linguistically appropriate.

Crisis Intervention: DeafLEAD crisis intervention includes advocacy, case management and counseling for Deaf and Hard of Hearing victims of crime. We are able to support victims through a variety of services and can also refer them to additional support as needed.

Advocacy: Much of the work we do with the Deaf population is assisting them in advocating for their rights and needs. We often are advocating for the basic things most people take for granted.

Mental Health Services: DeafLEAD offers free mental health services to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind and Late-Deafened Victims and their families, including children.

Teen Institute: For many years, DeafLEAD led a summer camp for Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth. It was a leadership-focused camp aimed to decrease isolation and increase communication. Many of our campers would come to camp having never met another Deaf person and leave camp with lifelong friends.
