Tobacco Quitcenter

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset's Tobacco Dependency Treatment Program enlists a comprehensive approach to help tobacco users safely and successfully break free from the addiction. The Quitcenter has assisted more than 3600 tobacco users. In fact, 73 percent of smokers who set a quit date and completed treatment at the Quitcenter were tobacco free at their six month follow-up.

The program includes an evaluation, breath carbon monoxide testing, specialized counseling, and, when needed, pharmacotherapy to help deal with nicotine withdrawl symptoms and cravings. It also addresses issues that can accompany tobacco dependency, such as depression, fears of weight gain, anxiety, and work-related triggers. Treatments are tailored to each patient's needs and can be coupled with one-on-one meetings, motivational techniques and group treatment meetings.
