The Somerset Treatment Services shall seek to provide quality treatment and prevention services to all persons suffering from or at risk of suffering from the physical, emotional, or psychological consequences of substance abuse or HIV-related illnesses. Our goal is to assist clients to achieve healthy, productive, and meaningful lives. The agency will serve as a model of community partnership to promote these goals.
Somerset Treatment Services is a treatment and counseling center offering affordable outpatient services for substance abuse and HIV-related illnesses. Established in 1970 by Somerset County's Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Medical Society of Somerset Medical Center to address drug problems in the county, the agency has evolved into a multi-program clinic that delivers comprehensive substance abuse treatment services, as well as community education and HIV services.

Anger Management
Clinical Substance Use Disorder
Clinical substance use disorder services is comprised of a core set of services which include substance abuse assessments, individual counseling and family therapy.
Drug Court Treatment
Drug Courts provide a highly specialized team process that functions within the existing Superior Court structure to address nonviolent drug cases, building collaboration between criminal justice and treatment professionals.
Group Therapy
Group therapy services provides a diverse range of groups including Early Education, Relapse Prevention, Women's Treatment, Adolescent Treatment, Co-occurring Disorders and Anger Management.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment
Somerset Treatment Services offers three distinct Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) programs, which provide nine hours of substance use disorder treatment per week. These include educational groups, therapeutic groups, and individual counseling sessions.
Intoxicated Driver Resource Center
IDRC stands for the Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center. After a driver in the state of New Jersey obtains two “driving while intoxicated” or “driving under the influence” charges they are required by law to attend a 48 hour program in Passaic County on the dangers and repercussions of drinking and driving.
Medication Assisted Therapy
The services currently address clients with addiction to opiates, such as heroin or other narcotic drugs. Programs include: OTP (Opioid Treatment Program) and Buprenorphine (Suboxone) Treatment Services
Methadone Intensive Outpatient Program (MIOP)
This program responds to the unique needs of the opiate-addicted population. Groups are based upon standardized tools proven to be effective and appropriate for this population.

Women's Treatment Services
The Women’s Group is designed to address the needs of women using supportive techniques to help clients feel at ease in discussing their personal experiences.
Prevention Services
Alcohol Education Program
Alcohol/substance abuse education and outreach services are provided to Somerset County residents, primarily targeting high risk/target populations. The Alcohol Education Specialist reaches out to and coordinates services with other agencies including schools, social services organizations, criminal justice system entities, senior centers, and others.
Early Education Group
The goal of Early Education Group is to educate clients on the different types of alcohol/drug use, abuse and addiction, providing accurate information on the psychological, physical and social effects of use
Strengthening Families
This family prevention program was developed to appropriately address the needs of high- risk families, particularly targeting Children Of Substance Abusers, with children aged 6-11 or10-14. STS utilizes the evidence-based Prevention Education tool, the Strengthening Families Program (SFP), focusing on both the children and the parents, to improve the family relationships and management.
HIV Services
Case Management
This program provides individualized care through assignment of a case manager to address the range of needs addressing each client diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
Support Group
This weekly group offers a welcoming yet confidential environment in which clients can seek to address various issues related to HIV/AIDS.
HIV Emergency Funds
HIV-Specific Drug Treatment
Services include free access to various treatment modalities at Somerset Treatment Services, including the Opioid Treatment Program and out-patient individual and group counseling.
