Emergency ASSISTance

When clients have exhausted all other avenues of support, ASSIST may be able to provide help. The majority of these services have income requirements that vary with the applicable funding source.

  • Emergency Shelter  While we don’t operate our own shelter, we can provide linkages to the various shelter programs in the region. For times when all shelter beds are full, we may be able to arrange temporary shelter.
  • Rental Assistance Individuals and families who are homeless or facing eviction may qualify for one month of rental assistance. Applicants must be able to provide documentation demonstrating the circumstances leading up to the disruption of income and/or increase in expenses, as well as their ability to sustain the housing once assistance has been provided. Priority is given to households with children, senior citizens, people with disabilities, veterans and victims of domestic violence.
  • Prescriptions  Individuals unable to afford their prescriptions may qualify for a one-time purchase of life sustaining or psychiatric medication assistance.
  • Eye Exams and Glasses  Adults age 60 and over without insurance coverage for an eye exam and a basic pair of glasses may qualify for assistance for these services.
  • Legal Identification Documents  Adults age 60 and over needing to replace legal forms of identification such as birth certificates, drivers licenses and state ID may qualify for assistance to cover the required fees.
  • Furniture Assistance  Households in need of furniture may be able to receive assistance in obtaining second hand furniture.
  • Home Heating Fuel Adults 60 and over in need of emergency heating fuel can contact the Northampton County Area Agency on Aging which will then arrange with ProJeCt to process the assistance. Please call the Area Agency on Aging at 610-559-3245 or 800-322-9269 for more information.
