Join us as our guest Adam Kubler, Director, Project Hire, as he discusses how to build work readiness skills in students with IDD for various competitive work environments. Knowing what employers are looking for and creating the connection between students' interests, skills, and business' needs can be mutually beneficial. The purpose of this webinar is to help students and their parents identify: (1) What work readiness skills are needed for employment, (2) How to develop networking opportunities in order to locate employment, and (3) Where to find school resources and state agencies that can assist with work readiness.
As families, schools, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies and other partners plan and engage in transition planning with students, it is important to understand that employment looks different for each student. Competitive integrated employment options should be individualized and align with a students’ interests, preferences, skills, and support needs; and with the labor market needs of businesses. By making the connection between student’s interests skills, and preferences and business needs, good job matches can be brokered so employment is a mutually beneficial outcome for both the student and business. This starts with building skills that help your student.
