Greater Raritan Workforce Investment Board

The Greater Raritan Workforce Investment Board is a public/private partnership formed through the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998. The law created workforce investment boards, or WIBs, throughout the country to be responsive to the needs of employers and workers. The Greater Raritan WIB oversees the combined workforce in Hunterdon and Somerset counties.

The Greater Raritan WIB brings together organized labor, education, community-based organizations and economic development agencies to:

  • Oversee the direction of $2.5 million in federal and state training funds used in career and demand occupations that   meet local employer needs.
  • Serve as a unifying agent for the two-county business sector, especially for small- and medium- sized businesses.
  • Foster high-skill, high-wage jobs for all populations.
  • Help people on public assistance move into employment.
  • Guide disadvantaged and at-risk youth to career paths and opportunities.
  • Ensure that adults have the basic education to maintain a sustainable living.
